Japanese yen

JPY · Research draft

Merge issuer-defined Taiwan yen profile into Japanese yen for the established common-unit period. Contemporary1933–1934report expressly identifies the same monetary unit;1933USsurvey confirms Japanese currency law. Preserve1898–1904silver dealings as held regional accounting scope, not an automatic founding date of this merged unit.

One scoped currency identity. Changes to subdivisions, scale, standard, instruments or issuers do not by themselves create children. A distinct account unit can remain a successor.
Current currency in the inherited endpoint register.
Dated observations: 1871–1946; this does not establish the entire lifetime.

The Korean yen/won account lineage inherited Japanese-yen reckoning adopted in the1905 reform. Korean treasury and banking accounts continued that reckoning through the colonial period; after1945 the inherited local unit continued under a separately controlled Korean monetary system. This supports regional ancestry from the Japanese yen, without treating the1909 change of bank issuer as creation of a new unit.
