The story
Cuba’s national peso replaced local Spanish-gold peso accounting through the 1914–1916 monetary reform. [1]
Peso oro español is expressly an imaginary unit of account/value distinct from circulating coins; contract/account conversion corroborates denomination. Metal phrase in label does not make it only a gold coin. [2]
