Turning points
Multiple currency unification
Postwar Austrian schillings replaced Reichsmarks at 1:1 under restricted exchange rules. One of two incoming monetary instruments; no exclusive single parent assigned. [1]
Multiple currency unification
Allied military schillings were also exchanged into Austrian schillings at 1:1. The military issue and Reichsmark were coexisting predecessors; per-person cash limits applied. [2]
Name revival
Austria restored the schilling after the Reichsmark interval. [3]
Restricted cash reform
The 1947 reform exchanged schilling notes at 3:1, except 150 per person at par. Cash reform only. No new universally rescaled account unit or blanket deposit conversion is asserted. [4]
Euro monetary substitution
1 EUR = 13.7603 ATS. Austria: euro adoption 1999-01-01; cash 2002-01-01. Regulation 974/98 substitutes the euro for each participating state’s currency on its adoption date; cash changeover is separately defined. [5] [6] [7]
Euro cash changeover
Austria: euro adoption 1999-01-01; cash 2002-01-01. [6]
