The story
The decree report provides for a new Syrian-pound scale from 1 January 2026 at 100 old pounds per new pound, with withdrawal and coexistence governed separately. [1]
Lebanon’s pound branches from the common Syrian-Lebanese monetary unit: the 1937 agreement separated currencies, while 1948 agreements and withdrawal ended their effective interchangeability. [2]
