The story

Domestically managed Ottoman esedi/kuruş accounting developed from the Dutch esedi trade-unit convention. This qualified regional transition compresses local stages; it does not assert universal redemption of Dutch coins or obligations. [1]

Regional leu accounting continued the lion-thaler convention after the trade coin receded. This qualified branch compresses regional differentiation and later Ottoman influence; it does not equate every local leu with Dutch or Ottoman money. [2]

Turning points

Account-unit observation

Dutch esedi/lion-dollar accounting is documented before and during the adoption of domestically managed Ottoman reckoning. This scoped trade account identity excludes generic thalers and undifferentiated kuruş references; 1575 minting is not used as its account-unit birth. [3]
