The story
Ecuador implemented replacement of sucres by US dollars at 25, 000 sucres per dollar during 2000. This local adoption and conversion joins the existing USD; it does not make the sucre a founding parent of USD. [1]
Ecuador adopted dollar accounting in 2000; the reported final cash-exchange deadline was 8 June 2001. Residual redemption is separate from active unit replacement. [2]
