The story
Article 1 sets the peso uruguayo from 1 March 1993 at 1, 000 nuevos pesos per peso uruguayo. [1]
The 1862 law established the national peso from 1 January 1863 and altered its account subdivision; it does not by itself prove a distinct predecessor under the no-rescaling rule. [2]
Turning points
Account-unit observation
Public-payment rules in 1829 use peso-denominated tax thresholds before national coin issues. Connecting this local observation to the later Uruguayan peso is qualified. [3]
