The story
Brazilian real (réis) converted into Cruzeiro at 1000 old units per new unit. [1]
The 1831 reform converted obligations and deposits payable in Brazilian copper into the local Uruguayan monetary system. Attribution to the Brazilian real is a qualified contributing account-conversion input, not an exclusive founding parent or a claim that circulated coins alone create ancestry. [2]
The governor's July 1692 fiscal report uses réis valuations while describing threatened tax collections and ecclesiastical and secular payrolls in the colonial monetary system. [3]
