Turning points
Currency replacement
The lats entered at 200 Latvian rubles per lats. Five-lats notes came first. The June date in Bundesbank metadata refers to later denominations; it is not first lats circulation. [1]
Name revival
Latvia restored the lats name after the Soviet-era interruption. [2]
Euro monetary substitution
1 EUR = 0.702804 LVL. Latvia: euro adoption 2014-01-01; cash 2014-01-01. Regulation 974/98 substitutes the euro for each participating state’s currency on its adoption date; cash changeover is separately defined. [3] [4] [5]
Euro cash changeover
Latvia: euro adoption 2014-01-01; cash 2014-01-01. [4]
