The story
The Latvian ruble became the sole mandatory domestic payment unit; bank accounts were converted. [1]
The lats entered at 200 Latvian rubles per lats. Five-lats notes came first. The June date in Bundesbank metadata refers to later denominations; it is not first lats circulation. [2]
Turning points
Territorial currency separation
Latvian rubles entered alongside Soviet and Russian notes at 1:1. The inherited ruble-zone unit, not the later 1998 Russian ruble scale. [3]
