Currency continuity

Salvadoran colón

SVC · Research draft

Account-unit continuity supported by the revision 23 source review; a naming, issuer or scale change does not supply a distinct ancestor.

One scoped currency identity. Changes to subdivisions, scale, standard, instruments or issuers do not by themselves create children. A distinct account unit can remain a successor.
Current currency in the inherited endpoint register.
Dated observations: 1821–2001; this does not establish the entire lifetime.

Earlier unit continuity

The Salvadoran peso was renamed colón in 1892 for official documents; monetary reform and naming do not create a separate currency identity.

Modern account-unit review

The nascent Salvadoran republic inherited the Spanish real system, including its multiples and subdivisions, through independence and the Central American federation. Original university museum history explicitly states inherited monetary system. Existing Salvadoran peso/colón profile can include real denominations; avoid an extra node for decimalisation.

Inference C1182

Salvadoran peso/colón accounting developed from the Spanish-colonial peso of eight reales retained during the Central American Federation. This is a qualified regional branch with unresolved local stages, not an exact founding date.

Corrected interpretation: Revision 27 supplies a new evidence basis for R-V23-022. Original university museum history explicitly states inherited monetary system. Existing Salvadoran peso/colón profile can include real denominations; avoid an extra node for decimalisation. Replacement evidence: C1598.
